We are operating with the bare minimum of resources in a volunteer capacity. What we can provide reflects that.
While mobile phones and other cellular devices are particularly valuable to someone in a crisis, they also pose unique challenges when it comes to stocking them. We haven't worked out a good way to do them yet.
We do not stock up-to-date anything. What you are getting is end of life gear which has been thrown away.
We can not promise a particular model of anything. You are getting a lucky dip from what's in stock.
If the device does not have a license for a suitable OS on it, you will have to solve that problem yourself.
We do not provide any form of technical support for hardware or software. We cannot recommend anyone.
Not to put too fine a point on it: we are giving you the hardware as-is. Once it's in your hands, it's yours and yours alone.
We cannot guarantee that power supplies are electrically safe.
We cannot guarantee that a lithium cell or a frayed cable won't burst into flames. (This is a constant source of anxiety for us)
We cannot guarantee that there won't be a crack in the glass of a screen which you cut yourself on.
We cannot guarantee that these devices won't fail during a crisis.
Your use of them, in short, is at your own risk.
We can't give you what we don't have.
We reserve the right to refuse service for any reason.
We are, in short, doing this because we know firsthand that "better than nothing" can save lives.
If you are looking to save some cash or get a shiny new toy, look elsewhere.
Seeing as this is effectively work for nothing, one day we're probably going to burn out and not be able to continue. There are humans making this happen, and reminding us we made a difference will help it keep happening.
